For reference I am 6″1 and 185lbs wearing size 13. The Shoes are about average comfortable and required no break-in period. However after just 77 miles of trail running they came apart in several areas where the side plastic meets the fabric and there was serious abrasion around the ankle fabric it basically separated and came apart. Only 77 miles and I cannot wear these shoes because they are falling apart. . They are comfortable but not glued together properly.

I’ve been wearing Hokas for 7 years. Started out with the Bondi. Needed more support so I switched to the Gaviota, I wore the Gaviota 2,3,4 and then tried the 5 but like many, I was very unhappy with the toebox. So when the Stinson 7 was released I gave it a try. The Stinson 7 is by far the best Hoka I’ve worn; the best shoe I’ve worn. Th combination of the H frame, the wide base, and the somewhat firm, but very thick rubber sole provides unparalleled stability on pavement, grass, gravel and sand. With all that stability their is also plenty of cushion. The upper is fitted from the heel to the toebox – It hugs the foot perfectly adding to the stability of the shoe. The upper material is nice and flexible so it forms to the foot. The Stinson 7 is comfortable right out of the box, but because it’s a fitted shoe it takes a week or two to shape itself to your foot. After a couple weeks it felt like it was custom made for me. The arch is a bit higher than the Bondi or Gaviota but it’s nice and gradual front to back and to the side – so it provides the perfect level of arch support. By far the best combination of cushioning, comfort and stability of any shoe I’ve worn, and it’s not even close. The Stinson 7 is a perfect 10!

As a woman who has a Morten’s neuroma on one of her feet, I’m always looking for ways to let my toes have more “breathing space” in the toe box. Measured that foot (by drawing on paper an outline of it barefoot while standing), and even though technically the women’s corresponding size would have fit, the men’s size gives a few more millimeters in width.so I chose the corresponding men’s size. (If you want to do this: Be sure to measure your foot and then check those measurements against the men’s / women’s size charts because, for instance a women’s 11 is NOT the same as men’s 11!) I don’t have a wide foot in general (and so I don’t shop in wide sizes); I just wanted a little extra width for my toes. Have been very happy with my choice. P.S. the maximum cushion of the Stinsoneven better than in Clifton or Challengeralso helps alleviate my Morten’s neuroma pain.

I am a women’s 10.5 with wide foot plus high instep. I ordered men’s 9.5 hoping that rounded toe means wider than normal….yay! It did! I love these! Excellent on rough ground and road surface to get yhere! The support and stability are excellent!

Midsole separated from shoe after 20 miles. Began warranty process and was informed Hoka would not be able to honor my exchange with the same size and color shoe after they were shipped but before the shoes were even received. Instead, they gave me a full refund. The shoe felt phenomenal but durability is unacceptable. I was also shocked to find that Hoka does not offer a Pro Deal for military and first responders like many other companies. I guess profit over quality is king these days. I’d pass on this model.

I’ve gone from Speedgoat to Mafate and now to the Stinson. Each move has been a “step” up in support, stability and comfort. The overall usability of the Stinson for me is great. I’m 6’1″ 205lbs. 59 years old and (road/pavement) power walk (15 min miles) to trail, fire roads and hiking up to 10 miles per day. The Stinson has become the “sweet spot” for me. Speedgoats looked good, but not quite the stability, or forward foot structure I needed. The Mafate fixed those Speedboat deficiencies (for me) but the cushy softness and less durable tread wore quickly and I needed to replace within 3 months. So far the Stinson is solving the overall structure, forward foot and tread sturdiness I need for my use. I’ve actually purchased the Kaha 2 Low for my primarily gravel/fire road and Hiking times and focusing my Stinson’s for the road/pavement power walks. Hope this helps!

Stinson 7 are my goto hikers. I own a lot of hokas. But these fell apart after my 1st time out on a 7 mile hike. My previous pair are still going strong so I’m going to exchange for another pair in hopes this was a fluke.

This is was actually my second pair of the Stinson 7. First pair was a good fit, good stability to cushion ratio, but the cloth in the heel wore through in a matter of about 4 months and ended up horribly worn out, torn an really un wearable. Because of the comfort and stability I thought that I would give them another go. I received them Mid May and here we are in Mid July and the heel has started to ware through again. Frustrating, because these aren’t inexpensive shoes… Hoka, you guys need to figure out a much better material for the inside of the heel on these shoes.

I’ve been wearing the Hoka Stinson for 3 months now, and while I’m impressed with the shoe’s comfort and performance, I’m disappointed with the color lining quality. The shoe’s comfort and cushioning are top-notch, but the color lining falling apart , I have other brand shoes and l never had this lining quality issue.
Had warranty ticket and sent for manufacture warranty , and asked for replacement as I still like the shoes .

I’ve been buying hocus since 2017 and suggest them to all my co-workers. I boast about not having foot fatigue after a 12 hour shift but I couldn’t get through 4 hours before taking these off. The heels of my feet were screaming and they were just overall uncomfortable. I did notice they were harder than any of my previous hoka and I currently have 5 pair and have been wearing since 2017. Not sure what happened. Please address this issue

Only wore them for 2 weeks and they are already coming apart

I originally had purchased speedgoat 5’s and loved those shoes, I put 700+ miles on them and could’ve gone 200+ more before I had to replace them.
These Stinson 7’s do not have Vibram soles, whatever rubber is being used for the outsole is essentially useless traction wise as soon as they get wet. I’ve slipped and fallen hard many many a time on the trail, some of those slips and falls were in very dangerous areas on high rocks or close to cliffs. I hope Hoka reads this and makes improvements to the outsole rubber of this shoe.

Great support but the toe box was too narrow. I went up a half size and the shoe was still too narrow. I bought two pairs and had to return them. Please make this shoe in a wide width.
Al –
I definitely want to get a second pair. Very solid shoe. Would like to get them in a wide.
MADHU –
This shoes feels comfortable and feels true size. I highly recommend this shoes for trail running and for daily regular usage (lifestyle), when compared to other brands won’t get any toe pain if wearing whole day. At the end of the day love this product.

Even though I’ve given it five stars, I have several issues with this shoe. First..I placed my feet in them, and immediately noticed how spacious the toe box is. How dare you be a shoe company concerned with the customers feet. Secondonce they were both on, and I stood up, the sole was so pleasantly supportive and offered a plush rigidity (oxymoron, I know-you have to own a pair to experience it.) How dare you make a shoe that lives up to its description? Thirdthey look so good I get complimented by random people. You know what comes next.how dare you make a shoe that’s both stylish and comfortable?
Helena –
The best brand on the market.

These things are plush and exactly what I need with my neuropathy. I’ve had other Hokas but these are the best. An aggressive sole for outdoors.

I was actually wore the gaviota 4 and those shoes are awesome the only issue I had was that they wear off from on top where my big toe is positioned, other than that gaviota 4 were perfect . Earlier last yr I bought the gaviota 5 and they didn’t feel the same i return them. I took my chance with the Stinson 7 cause of similar features and these are an upgrade from the gaviota 5 by 2 or 3 times more these shoes do not tear or break or the sole takes a very long time to wear off. Also I’m a flat footed person and these shoes keep me stable at work from 8 to 16hrs at a time. I’m an order selector at my job and honestly I can say since 2000 I’ve never had shoes like this. These are the greatest shoes I’ve ever used.. i have 3 pairs and I’m about to order a 4th one. These are shoes for people who have unstable footing and need cushion. Plus my body and back doesn’t ache after use..
Jupiterbeach –
There are so many shoes on the market. It is silly. I have been looking for a special pair of shoes to walk on the heart trail, which is made of mulch. But there are hardly any shoes at all for trail walking that has stability. This is the only pair I could find and they come in several colors. I have bought three pair.

Love the new color. Hoka forever

Your search for a running shoe that stabilizes your pronation/supination and is build for the trail is over.

Hoka makes great shoes, no question about it. I bought this shoe for a 24 hour hike I’m doing with 3 of 7 Project. I’ve been training with it and so far it feels great. Fits well and has the comfort I need to be on my feet for 24 hours straight. Awesome product!!

I started with speedgoat 5’s and wanted to try a shoe with a bit more cushion when I go hiking with my dogs. When I first tried them on they felt great and seemed to offer more support than the speedgoat. I haven’t been out hiking with them yet so I don’t know how they compare with the speedgoat on the trail.

Felt nice straight out of the box. Cushion is plush by hiking standards. The toe box has extra room which I like. The shoe itself looks very cool. Honestly it’s what attracted my attention to it. Look good in person also. Anxious to get out and beat these up!
